2019 Pipe Invitational North Shore, Oahu.
Having spent a little time on the Hawaiian Island; Kauai over the years. A trip to the 7 mile stretch of surf heaven known as the North Shore had eluded me. Until a quick look at surfline and google flights one December morning.
Pipe Invitational
Upon landing on Oahu. I threw my boards in a rental car and got from Honolulu to the north shore. Just in time to catch the final of the Pipe Invitational. An all Hawaiian Final featuring: Koa Smith, Keanu Asing, Imaikalani deVault and Billy Kemper.
Billy Kemper
Taking top spot in the finals and securing his spot in the Billabong Pipemasters.
Imaikalani deVault
Grabbing second in the finals and a spot in his first CT event.
Keanu Asing
After looking solid through early heats it didn’t connect for him in the finals. Placing 3rd he’d have to settle for spectating this year’s Pipemasters.
Koa Smith
Placing 4th in the 2019 Pipe Invitational.
Banzai Pipeline
With a promising forecast and the Pipeline Invitational over. Competitors and the surfing world now set their eyes on the final contest of the year. The Billabong Pipemasters.
