2022 Baja 1000

I consider myself lucky to spend as much time as I do in Baja on a yearly basis. The racing is fun but the experiences in between racing are sometimes more memorable.

We lost the transmission in “pre runner” and was stuck in the desert for several hours trying to get a truck in to get us. And then when we got the truck to us we got the “rescue” truck stuck. And then the wench on the trailer didn’t want to work (we got it on the trailer). And then we got the truck and trailer stuck… So we got back to our in San Felipe very late.

Making our way to Ensenada the following day we got information of a transmission shop in town that would be able to rebuild the turbo 400 transmission. I forgot why (as I am writing this years later) but we got the truck to them at some point in the day, we came back by the shop later that evening around 10:30p, may have had some tequila with the guys. It was cool looking around their shop, they were drag racing guys and well versed in drivelines, with tons of parts. I don’t know how long they worked on it that night but, in under 24hrs we had a rebuilt transmission back in the truck.
