Red Tide San Diego

Red Tide in San Diego

Really not much of a spectacle by day. But if you catch the waves just after sunset, you have a largely different ocean to view.

Red tide after sun down

After the sunsets the bioluminescent plankton glow when agitated.  For more night time surfing photos. As well as a video of me surfing in the red tide at night. Click the link to see my blog bioluminescent Waves in San Diego.

Surfing Oceanside

With surfing becoming legal again in Oceanside just this week. I would say the consensus amongst surfers is “stoked”. My personal observation of the crowd. After I surfed  Oceanside every day this week. Is lighter than your average crowded San Diego lineup at this time of year. There was a little swell this week and with all the beach closures in San Diego. I was worried that Oceanside would have been packed. With nice weather coming this weekend it is unfortunate that the post surf nap on the beach isn’t yet legal. But that is a minor inconvenience, I personally am just happy to have access to the ocean again.
